REQUESTED ACTION (S)

a)              AGREEMENT - Request approval and authorization for the Executive Director to

sign the Subcontractor Year Three Agreement Addendum with Aegis Treatment Centers LLC for the purpose of furnishing labor and materials required of a Spoke as part of the California Hub and Spoke System of the California Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Expansion Project, for the period 7/1/19 to 9/30/20

(Miscellaneous Agreement #2019-165)

BACKGROUND INFO

This is an extension of the original agreement (Misc. #2018-98) that was approved by the Board of Supervisors on May 1, 2018 which would terminate on 8/1/19.

In April, 2017, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) awarded the State Targeted Response to the Opioid Crisis Grant to California's Department of Health Care Services.  In turn, California Department of Health Care Services implemented the California Hub and Spoke System (CA H&SS) of the California Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Expansion Project funded by the grant.  The vendor, Aegis Treatment Centers LLC, is a "Hub" and the Health Services Agency - Medical Clinic is one of the "Spokes".  A Spoke is a federally approved Data 2000 waivered prescriber who prescribes or dispenses buprenorphine in office-based settings.

The purpose of the grant is to address the opioid crisis by improving access to treatment, reducing unmet treatment need, and reducing opioid overdose related deaths through prevention, treatment, and recovery activities for opioid use disorder.
