BACKGROUND INFO

Paul and Rich contributed waste reduction, recycling and hazardous waste disposal information to the semi-annual Public Information Flyer, monthly Lake California POA newsletter, Rancho Tehama newsletter as well as produced and distributed the Tehama County 4R’s eNewsBlast, and the Tehama County Educators Waste Awareness E-Newsletter.

 

Paul gave a recycling presentation at Woodson Elementary School on October 5th.

 

Paul gave compost presentations at Evergreen Middle School on October 3rd and the Sacramento River Discovery Center on November 4th.

 

Paul and Rich provided information regarding waste reduction, proper disposal of household hazardous waste and other programs available for Tehama County residents at the Corning Food Truck event on October 3rd, the Corning Olive Festival on October 7th, and the Dairyville Orchard Festival on October 21st.

 

The Agency has partnered with Woodson Bridge State Recreation Area, Red Bluff Recreation Area, Battle Creek Campground, Gurnsey Creek Campground, Elam Campground and Potato Patch Campground to expand the pilot 1lb propane cylinder collection program. A total of 19 collection bins have been distributed throughout the County. To date, a total of 828 1lb propane cylinders, 133 isopropane cylinders, and 73 butane cylinders have been collected through the program.

 

On October 4th, Paul gave a food and recycling sorting presentation at Evergreen Elementary School to kick off the edible food recovery and food waste diversion program being instituted by the school. He assisted Evergreen Middle School’s Ecology Club on October 24th in constructing a composting bin.

 

Paul provided outreach materials along two rural hauling routes on October 10th and on November 8th.

 

The Agency partnered with the Tehama County Library for the 3rd Annual Costume Swap on October 14th.

 

Paul and Rich gave two presentations of the 4R Kids Exhibit to Vina Elemenary School on November 30th.

 

The next Passenger Tire Collection event will be Saturday January 13th from 8AM-12PM at the Corning Park ‘n Ride, the Evergreen Middle School parking lot, and Rancho Tehama, Manton, and Paynes Creek transfer stations.

 

The next household hazardous waste collection events will be held from 8:00AM - 12:00PM on December 9th at the Tehama County/Red Bluff Landfill and on     December 30th at Corning Disposal.
