REQUESTED ACTION (S)
a) Authorize the District Attorney to accept the State of California, Office of Emergency Services, Victim/Witness Assistance Program Grant in the amount of $197,215 for FY 2016-2017
This program has been funded for 20 years at 100% through the State of California, Office of Emergency Services and has allowed for the continued assistance to the victims of crime in Tehama County. The Victim/Witness program seeks to assist victims of crime by helping them handle the trauma experienced as a crime victim and to allow them faster and more complete recovery from the effects of crime. Without this program the connection between victims of crime and the District Attorney's Office will be hampered likely leading to fewer successful prosecutions. Authorization to apply for the grant was approved by the Board of Supervisors on 6/7/16
