This is a receivable to the Tehama County Health Services Agency, Public Health Division for a Child Health and Disability Prevention (CHDP) allocation in the amount of $21,210 for FY 2016-2017.
REQUESTED ACTION (S)
a) Request approval from the Board to submit for an additional fund allocation through the California Department of Healthcare Services for fiscal year 16-17 in the amount of $21,210 for the provision of nursing case management and program coordination for children in foster care on psychotropic medications
This is a newly funded program allocated to local Child Health and Disability Prevention (CHDP) Programs through State general funds. This program will allow Public Health Nurses to monitor and oversee children or youth in the Foster Care System that are prescribed psychotropic medications that have been proven to cause adverse effects if not adequately monitored. Senate Bill 319 allows Public Health Nurses the authority to receive medical records directly from physicians in order to coordinate health care services and serve as a liaison with health care professionals and other providers of health-related services. If not approved, the Tehama County Health Services Agency will not receive the funding to augment staff the time necessary to work directly with service providers of the children in foster care.
